My life in a Jif. Ever since I took my first Auto class my freshman year, I knew I wanted to be a mechanic. I learned so much faster than I did in any other classes, I had that year. Still to this day, I work so much better in that class, than any other of my classes. Not only does it interest me, I also don’t mind having to struggle to get a project done. In fact, having to come up with my own way of fixing something, or get something out, or turn something on is a big accomplishment for me. Not many people may see what I did or what I went through to get it done, but that does not matter. Knowing that I did it and that I did it my own way is an accomplishment for me. It’s a good feeling opening up my hood and knowing what I’m looking at. For example, I had an experience this one time I went on a road trip with a few friends and everything was okay until the car started to act up. No one knew what was wrong with the car including me. Once we pulled over, the driver and I got out of the car, opened the hood and right then and there I knew what was wrong with the car. It was ringing low on antifreeze. What that means is that the car was overheating. We were on the side of the road for about thirty minutes, until a truck pulled over and helped us out. They didn’t have antifreeze but they did have enough water to put in the reservoir to make sure the car didn't overheat again. After being on the side of the road for an hour, we finally got back on to the road, to get to our destination. That was an important experience to me because of how I knew what was wrong with it, I was proud of myself. I feel proud of myself for knowing what to do in a situation like that, not only because we were on a trip but also because of the experience. Hopefully that’s the only time I experience that, but if it happens again, I will know what to do and be prepared for it. It was a eye opener because that’s the career field I want to go into. Fixing cars from small problems like that to big ones, also from switching out the old breaks to rebuilding an engine. I want to do it all because it is what I love to do and I enjoy doing it as well.
